There’s a Dinosaur in my Bathroom!

Kids love dinosaurs. Over the years I have grown increasingly frustrated when trying to purchase dinosaur resources that compliment a biblical young earth view that man and dinosaur walked the earth together. Then one night I discovered one of Ben’s dinosaur toys sitting on our bathroom floor (as they sometimes do!) and this poem was birthed. When I recited the initial verse to my kids the following morning they insisted that I added to it. Below is the final poem that Born2Kids have added their illustrations to for your enjoyment! If you’re interested, the dinosaur this poem is loosely based on is the Compsognathus.

There’s a Dinosaur in my Bathroom!

There’s a dinosaur in my bathroom
He’s not big, he’s rather small
I once thought dinosaurs were massive
Then found out most weren’t very tall.
I stand quietly, not moving
So I can watch him crouch and crawl.
He leaps up on the bath tub
Slowly wobbles…I think he’ll fall

By Abby

He runs along the bath tub ledge
Knocking over Mum’s shampoo
Which slides into the empty bath
And starts leaking out green goo!
He pauses, looks and jumps…
On the bottle as it rests
And sends green goo exploding
Causing such a mess!

Next he scuttles up the shower hose
I’m not sure what he’ll do!
The shower head starts to slip
I prepare for more green goo!
But he pauses for a moment
His eyes narrow, but never blink
Then he swings back and forwards
And leaps on to the sink.

By Chloe

He’s close to where I’m standing
I see curved teeth inside his mouth
He sniffs around the hand soap
And I watch his tongue slip out
I laugh as his head jerks back
And he shakes it all about
He backs into the tap lever
And water comes gushing out!

By Ben

There’s a dinosaur in my bathroom
He’s not big or very scary
As I watch him shower in my sink
I find him rather funny.
So remember when you look
At pictures of a T-rex
That many dinosaurs were small
And may visit your house next!
